Zero Traction

Zero Traction was the first combat robot Justin built. It was built & designed over about 3 weeks, and competed for the first time at Bot Brawl Toronto in 2018.

The bot had a number of design problems, including an underpowered weapon motor and small drive base. This lead to the bot going 0-2 at the competition (and something like 0-8 in grudge matches right after, haha!).

The first match was against a cool looking drum spinner, which managed to flip zero traction over within the first few seconds of the match. They then had some fun and flipped the bot over a few more times until letting the bot get counted out!

The second match was against a UHMW wedge bot which had a fun time pushing my (very slow) drive base all around the box.

This first competition was certainly a learning experience. Coincidentally, this is where Nik and Justin met again for the first time since their time in VEX. Nik is now a leading member for Bloodsport :) Nik and Justin had a grudge match, which you can see in the video on the right.
